That, or pop an ult.īut if anyone can explain how he really isn't OP and how to counter him I'd love to hear it, because having both played McCree and played against him, I just feel he's way too strong. You've noticed the new Social Media buttons. I'm still not entirely sure what to do other than to just blitz, sacrifice 1 to flash/bang hammer and hope the next guy can kill him. On attack, it's a lot harder since you have to advance and then your choices are going through a choke and getting flash/fan'd, or going through the open and dying to everyone else. He doesn't have any mobility so your best bet is just not letting him get in flashbang/fan range in the first place. On defense, try to watch the flanks and deny him from getting close. The best things I've found to counter him: He either shouldn't be able to stun, or if he can stun, he shouldn't be able to bring tanks from full to dead in the duration of that stun. It's not just his flashbang or fan the hammer that is the problem. Some characters can keep him at bay, (Snipers, Bastion) but up close he will consistently beat ever single character in the game 1 v 1 and the skill level of the player he is facing doesn't even matter because his flashbang removes the option of counter play. He's the only character that is really OP at the moment, I think. Just trying to figure out what to do when competitive mode comes out and there's a mcree in every match. He's too close and he will flashbang/ fan you. By the time you hear the spurs, its too late. I've seen something somewhere that says listen for his spurs and run the fuck away. Tracer gets stomped by a mcree that can hit his left clicks. Sure genji can reflect his whole kit, but if you flashbang the ground near the genji. but if this were a solid counter, you wouldn't see so many mcrees in competitive play. Zarya can shield his allies from the flashbang / fan. there's always a way for the mcree to close the gap out of line of sight. Bastion can keep him from peeking around a corner, but same deal as widow. Widow can outrange him, if the part of the map you're on allows it, but seeing as how ive played this game a bit, there's always a way to sneak around the widows line of sight. He seems to be the only character in the game that you need more than 1 character to counter. ![]()
